First-time shoulder dislocations in patients under 25 have a 70–90% recurrence rate. Arthroscopic Bankart repair reattaches the torn labrum and restores stability with high success.

What happens during a dislocation

The labrum (a fibrocartilage rim around the socket) tears off the bone, creating a Bankart lesion. The shoulder then easily slips out again with throwing, sleeping, or even lifting motions.

Arthroscopic Bankart repair

Through 2–3 small portals, the labrum is reattached to the glenoid using titanium or biocomposite suture anchors.

Sling for 4–6 weeks, return to non-contact sport at 4 months, contact sport at 6 months.

When you need a Latarjet procedure

If significant bone loss exists on the glenoid (>20%) or after multiple failed Bankart repairs, a Latarjet bone-block procedure transfers the coracoid process for permanent stability.
