What is it?
Two-track shoulder care: (1) navigated & customised shoulder replacement, (2) arthroscopic shoulder surgery for soft-tissue and instability problems.
For irreparable arthritis or rotator-cuff arthropathy, shoulder replacement (anatomic or reverse) is performed using computer navigation and patient-specific implants — a robot is not involved. For frozen shoulder, recurrent dislocation, rotator cuff tears, impingement and SLAP/PASTA lesions, the joint is treated arthroscopically through 3–4 keyhole incisions, usually as day-care surgery.
Symptoms — when do you need it?
Shoulder pain limiting overhead reach, sleeping or daily tasks — or recurrent dislocations — may need surgical care.
- Severe shoulder pain at rest or at night
- Inability to lift the arm overhead
- Recurrent dislocation or 'slipping' shoulder
- Stiffness consistent with frozen shoulder
- Weakness or 'catching' from a rotator cuff tear
- Failed conservative therapy / arthritis on imaging
The procedure
Replacement: ~90 minutes. Arthroscopy: 45–90 minutes day-care.
- Replacement: 3D imaging, computer-navigated bone preparation, patient-specific implant positioning
- Arthroscopy: 3–4 keyhole portals, HD camera, fine instruments
- Treats: frozen shoulder release, rotator-cuff repair, Bankart/SLAP/PASTA repair, subacromial decompression
- Layered closure, sling, structured physiotherapy from day 1–2
Benefits
Restored overhead motion, durable repair, minimal scarring.
- Accurate, navigated implant alignment for replacements
- Patient-specific sizing — no two shoulders are identical
- Day-care arthroscopy — go home the same day
- Smaller incisions, less pain
- High return-to-sport rate after instability repair
- Long-lasting outcome
Recovery timeline
Sling for 4 weeks, light activity in 6 weeks, full strength in 3–6 months.
Procedure completed in 60–90 minutes.
Stand and take a few assisted steps.
Walk independently with support and go home.
